Momentum is a place to put the things you do not want to lose. That only works if you know where they go. This page is written to be read, not to be survived.
The short version
- Your notes, tasks and lists are stored in a database in Paris, France, and are visible only to your account.
- There are no analytics and no trackers — not on this website, and not in the app.
- Voice recordings are transcribed and not kept.
- To answer you, the text of your message is sent to an AI provider outside the EU. That is the one thing here worth reading twice, and it has its own section below.
- Bug reports never contain your notes, by construction.
What is stored
Your vault. The notes, tasks, lists, goals, projects and reminders you capture, in the words you captured them in. This is the product; it is kept until you delete it.
Your account. If you make one: an email address and a password, handled by Supabase Auth — passwords are hashed and never visible to us. If you do not make one, you get an anonymous guest brain with no email attached to it at all.
What Momentum works out about you. Over time the app notes preferences and habits you volunteer, so it can be useful without being asked twice. You can see this list, and mute anything on it, in the app.
A message count. How many messages you have sent today, so the daily allowance can be enforced. It is a number, not a copy of the messages.
Bug reports you send. What you wrote in the report, and a short technical trace of which tools ran and whether they failed. The trace is rebuilt from tool names and error flags — the contents of your notes are never attached to it. That is enforced twice, once in the app and again on the server.
What is only passed through
Your voice. When you talk to Momentum, the audio is sent to the transcription provider, turned into text, and dropped. Momentum stores no recording and neither writes it to disk nor to the database. The text it becomes is treated like anything else you type.
Your message. To produce a reply, the text of what you said — plus whatever notes are needed to answer it — is sent to the AI model provider. Nothing is sent to a model unless you send a message.
Where it goes, and the part outside the EU
The database, your account and the app's own server code are hosted by Supabase in the eu-west-3 (Paris) region. This website and the domain's email forwarding are handled by Cloudflare.
The two AI providers are not in the EU. Your message text is sent to DeepSeek to generate a reply, and voice audio is sent to Groq to be transcribed. This means that the words you capture, at the moment you capture them, are processed outside the European Union. If that is not acceptable for what you were about to write down, do not write it down here.
Transactional email — verification codes and password resets — goes through Resend. Payments, if you ever make one, go through Stripe; Momentum never sees or stores your card. App updates are delivered through Expo.
No analytics, no trackers, no advertising
This website loads no third-party scripts and no third-party fonts, and sets no cookies. The app contains no analytics SDK of any kind. Nothing here is sold, shared with advertisers, or used to build a profile of you anywhere except inside your own vault, where it is for your benefit and visible to you.
What you can do about it
- Delete everything. The app can wipe your vault — notes, tasks, lists, goals and the measurements it keeps for you — on request.
- Be forgotten, selectively. Anything Momentum has worked out about you can be muted individually, so it is not learned again the following week.
- Take it with you. The app can produce a backup of your vault.
- Delete your account. Email us and it goes, along with everything attached to it.
One deliberate asymmetry worth knowing: wiping your vault does not erase what the app has learned about you as a person, because those are different acts. Deleting your account erases both.
Guest brains
A guest brain lives on one device and has no email or password attached. That means nobody else can reach it — and it also means we cannot recover it for you. Clear the app's storage, uninstall it, or switch browser, and it is gone. If you capture something you would miss, add an email and password; it upgrades the brain you already have, in place.
Children
Momentum is not intended for children under 16, and is not directed at them.
Changes
Momentum is in beta and this page will change as it does. The date at the top is the honest one.
